I am icon city
It has been fun hearing different people share with us their idea of what and who Icon City is. Icon City has been marked with a mystique and curious idea as to what we are up to. So hopefully as you continue to get to know us you may gain a better understanding but I must warn you that you may still be a little confused. IC is not something that you get to know through a description or a paragraph. It is something that must be experienced. You see IC is not an organization or a social club. IC is a movement intended to shift the public will of Central Oregon.
What we do
Shift awareness of social and economic issues.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create positive solutions to Central Oregon issues.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Provide volunteer opportunities for building a strong community.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connect resources in Central OR with people in needy situations.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It all started with a question
"What is the one thing that's not being done that if we did it would change everything?" Could a city put on an event that ended with ACTION... There is not a lack of willing people or compassion, but where is the channel for people to express this desire to help. What if there was a neutral place to share ideas, stories, and solutions. What if the city became more educated on the 9 root causes of poverty and understood the pain and plight of some of our friends and neighbors.
What if people started conversations with questions? What if we did not judge someone until we knew their story?
So how is public will shifted toward serving? We can't say that the answer is in creating another organization, but if we can come together linking arms we will have everything we need. So we launched an event that will not compete with but complete the big picture! A theater full of people of all ages, faiths, creeds and skin tones all working together for a common goal: To live in culture, love unconditionally and serve our city.
